About us
The OAO, based in Villefranche-sur-mer (France), is the result of a particular effort to merge facilities and knowhow and to create synergies within scientific groups and their interdisciplinary research.
Focusing on the development and use of autonomous platforms such as gliders and profiling floats and on marine biogeochemical cycles, it allows to address a wide range of topics and to study specific oceanic features. The undertaken studies, which cover different oceanic regions (e.g. the Mediterranean, the North Atlantic), as well as their possible inter-comparison help to contribute to a better understanding of the Oceans and their role e.g. within the context of global change.
